Behavior Analysis is the science of behavior. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the process of applying interventions systematically based upon the theory of learning principles to improve socially significant behaviors. Specifically, ABA refers to an approach systematic to the assessment and evaluation of behavior and the application of interventions that alter behavior.
Functional Behavior Analysis/Assessments
Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) delineates the services to be provided. Through the FBA process, a hypothesis regarding the relationship among specific types of environmental events and behaviors is formulated. Reinforcement contingencies and interventions to be utilized are drawn from the FBA process, which also outlines necessary skill acquisition targets as well as behavior reduction targets to be addressed once services begin. Finally, the FBA process comprises a recommendation for behavioral services. It should be noted that the behavioral services recommended and provided varies across individuals.
Intensive Behavior Intervention Services
Intensive behavioral services are designed through the FBA process. Intensive Behavior Intervention Services are individualized and designed to address the individual’s needs. Parents and caregivers as well as the natural environment and direct reinforcement are key components in our services. Intensive Behavior Intervention Services are supervised, managed and updated as needed by a Clinical Supervisor. Services vary depending on the needs of the individual, yet behavioral services typically incorporate language acquisition, play skills, self-help skills, behavioral modification and social skills training. It should be noted that, the total amount of Intensive Behavior Intervention Services varies across individuals.
Parent/caregiver consultation is provided for families to become a positive behavior support system for the client. Parents/caregivers are coached and given opportunities to learn and implement targeted ABA strategies. Our staff works alongside parents/caregivers in the natural environment to teach appropriate implementation of ABA strategies.
